Benefits Of Dry Creek Beds
If you live in an area that experiences problems with drainage or ponding that can occur near the home that poses a threat to the basement during heavy rainfalls a dry creek bed is a ideal way to divert water off the property or to a safe area. They can also be used to minimize washing and erosion on slopes and banks.
Dry creek beds are a great way to enhance your Mountain type landscape or Xeriscape.
Dry creek beds add to the beauty of your landscape no matter what type of landscape you have.
Dry Creek Bed Cost
Dry creek beds vary in cost. Depends on how big your dry creek bed is, how many and what type of plants you grow along the edges of your dry creek bed and if boulders are used.
I charge by the square foot. The cost per foot will depend on what type of rock is used in the creek bed. Usually, $5.00 to $7.00 per foot. Example: If your creek bed is 20 feet long and 4 foot wide the cost would be $400.00 to $560.00 depending on the rock used (plants and boulders extra).
If grasses and plants are planted along the sides of the creek bed, the creek bed will be wider to accommodate the grasses and plants. Planting costs will vary. Call for estimate.
If boulders are used in the creek bed, there will be an additional charge for the boulders and extra labor (rocks over 12” will be considered boulders).
You can purchase a bridge for your dry creek bed. Cost will depend on size and style. Call for estimate.
Most dry creek beds are 6-9 inches deep. They are lined with 30 year weed barrier material so you won’t have problems with weeds for many years to come.
Overall, the cost of a complete dry creek bed will be worth every cent spent. You will get many years of enjoyment from it.
